![]() ![]() I actually meant formats which programs don't support PGNs properly. PGN is a universal format and there is not much need to open other formats. SCIDB(in development, as you said) is not much needed. But still it is good with most features one can expect. SCID considers PGNs as read-only files, so though it does #8, it can't save them directly as PGN, and with multiple files in its raw format, I would not like it. If you want something that supports pgn, scid, and chessbase formats all in one program, check out scidb (still in development). Tarrasch is easy to use but it lacks 4-7,10, with ability to setup positions also.Īlso, SCID and SCID vs. It is notable that Arena has all features except 3,6(half, but it is not easy to understand),7 and SCID lacks 4,6,7,8. *.si4(SCID Database),*.zsf(Zillions saved file) etc.) and can be used for engine tournament sort of thing It would also be good if it can open various formats(eg. Should be able to add multiple games in a PGN.Can be used to play chess(No problem if no variants).Must be able to add annotations and variations(and signs like !!, ? etc.) with a kibitzer-like feature.Should show comments in user friendly way obtained from last mentioned function(eg.It gains 3 points, but is 4 points worse than my suggestion.Should be able to show stats of any move in comparison of best move and in comparison to effect of its moves(eg.1.a4 b5 is a pawn down by effects, while in comparison to.Shredder Android has an overall meter and shows taken and lost material and calculates it after every move) Should show that which side is ahead in position, material and overall(2 of them can suffice, I can calculate 3rd myself)(eg.Should have a feature to rate players of a game according to the PGN(like ELOstat in Arena).Must be able to read all PGN files rightly. ![]() Support for all UCI engines(I have no problem if it supports XBoard as well).Must be free(or at least for personal use, or something which has very less security easy to break ).I want a chess GUI with at least the following functions:. ![]() From there, you can copy/paste to another application.I know that this thread has been before, but those answers didn't satisfy me, so here is a new one.
